Special Olympics Multi-Sports Training Camp - August 15-21, 2010
February 25, 2010
It’s time to indicate your desire to apply for Sports Camp 2010.

The Camp is located in Western Pennsylvania about 5 ½ hours by coach bus and about 50 miles East of Pittsburgh. The camp population is limited to 130 Campers, with 100 coaches half of which are Special Olympics PA certified coaches and the remaining being from the church sponsoring group the North American Council of Teen SOYO (Society of Orthodox Youth).

Athletes of all ability levels are welcome although the Camp is not appropriate for those athletes requiring 1 to 1 attention for behavioral and/or physical needs. Athletes must be 12 years of age by the Camp date of August 15th. Athletes must have trained/participated in at least one Special Olympics Sports Training program during the past year and athletes must be well conditioned to endure up to five hours of intensive outside sports training each day.

The interest form must be completed and returned to the SOMC Plymouth Meeting Office by
March 24, 2010. From these forms we prepare the County’s “Letter of Intent” indicating the number of athletes and coaches that have expressed a desire to attend. From this the Camp Committee will determine the exact number of campers that the County will be allowed. Note all campers must have a present coach’s recommendation. Coaches would you please also fill out the form or let me know by phone or e-mail you’re willingness to coach, as your numbers are also required.

Remember that just because this form is submitted doesn’t guarantee your acceptance for Camp. The Camp will let us know how many athletes we can send and from that number we still have to comply with sufficient “same-sex” coaches to conform with the Special Olympics mandatory ratio of 4 athletes to each coach.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me.
