Coaches Recertification

To maintain skills, provide athletes with effective training and understand any rules changes, the State Office requires coaches to be re-certified in their sport every four years.

There are several ways to obtain recertification or to receive your initial training as a coach or to maintain your re-certification. Follow this link:Continuing education (at the bottom of the webpage)

1.  Please remind your new volunteers that they must register for the Skill Training Schools in order to be a certified coach.

2.  These training schools are for new coach or coaches who do not have a certification in that sport.  Once a coach is certified they need to do continuing education (every three years)to maintain their certification (A skills course does not meet this requirement).  To see your options for continuing ed go to the SOPA Website and click on Volunteer Center on the right and Training Schools on the left.  Half way down the page you will see your options.

  • At the end of the training type your name in the course certificate (behind your name put your county)

  • Complete the Sports Training Application found below. Email the certificate and the Sports training application to the SOMC office for signoff.
