Welcome new volunteers!

As you can see Sarah enjoyed doing her service project volunteering with Special Olympics. Special Olympics cannot function without the time, energy, commitment, and enthusiasm of the many volunteers who accomplish a wide variety of tasks.  Special Olympics Montgomery County is an entirely volunteer organization and relies on volunteers at all levels to ensure that every athlete is provided with a quality sports training and competition experience.

Whether as assistant coaches, site coordinators, administrators, or in other support capacities, volunteering for Special Olympics can create lifelong friendships and rewards of unique value.

As one of the many local programs Special Olympics Montgomery County relies on our partners at Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA) to support our volunteer recruitment. To begin registration please review an overview of volunteer opportunities at the SOPA website link here:

The application tool will take you through the steps. Remember to use the same email address for your Special Olympics communications especially for clearances. All volunteers are required to follow state law and complete the Special Olympics clearances on line. Email copies of other clearances from your school or work are not acceptable.

After you submit the registration you can start to complete three simple online trainings required of all volunteers. Visit the Special Olympics Pennsylvania Volunteer Center website. Complete the Special Olympics Pennsylvania General Orientation, Protective Behaviors and Concussion Awareness Training: http://www.specialolympicspa.org/ways-to-help/volunteer/volunteer-center   For the two choices offered in concussion training the National Federation of High School Sports is the better choice – when you finish the training it will produce an Adobe PDF file for you to save and send. The other course shows it on screen and cannot be saved. The completed concussion training certificate is to be emailed to sportstraining@specialolympicspa.org but keep copies of the other two trainings for your records.
